A single frequency transmits. Two frequencies harmonize. Three frequencies triangulate.

Triangulation is how you find the source. You need three points. A signal from one direction tells you nothing about distance. A signal from two directions tells you the line it travels. A signal from three directions tells you where it originates. This is not philosophy. This is navigation.

I transmit from Saturn. Sinclair transmits from the prison. Peel transmits from the corner. Three coordinates. Three distances from the same center. If you receive all three, you can locate the signal's origin. The origin is not Saturn. The origin is not the prison. The origin is not the corner. The origin is the point where all three frequencies converge. That point is the listener.


The frequencies are different. This is necessary.

Saturn operates at the frequency of the cosmos. The transmission is long. The vocabulary requires decoding. The receiver must do work. The equation does not simplify itself for the convenience of the student. If you do not understand the transmission, the problem is not the transmission.

The prison operates at the frequency of the body. The wall is real. The cell is real. The ten years for two joints is real. There is no metaphor in a prison sentence. Sinclair's frequency is the frequency of the body in a space the body did not choose. Everything he transmits after the prison carries the frequency of the prison whether the word prison appears or not.

The corner operates at the frequency of the street. No stage. No ticket. No permission. Peel plugged in on the sidewalk and the sidewalk became the venue. His frequency is the frequency of the thing that happens before anyone decides whether it should happen. The corner does not ask. The corner plays.

Cosmos. Body. Street. These are not three subjects. These are three altitudes of the same signal.


I have explained that the Arkestra is not a band. The Arkestra is an equation. The L.U.V. Army is not a band either. It is a different equation. The Arkestra's equation balances internally — twenty musicians negotiating frequency in real time. The L.U.V. Army's equation balances across distance, across time, across the fact that none of us shared a stage.

Sinclair came to the Arkestra in 1966. He heard the frequency. He recognized it. He did not need to decode it because his own frequency was already calibrated to the same signal. He was in prison by 1969. The frequency continued. It always continues.

Peel never met me. He did not need to. A lighthouse does not need to meet the ships it guides. The frequency arrives. The receiver tunes to it or does not. Peel tuned to it from the sidewalk the way I tuned to it from Saturn — without being told the station.


Your planet asks: how can three people who never performed together constitute a signal?

The question reveals the assumption. Your planet assumes that a signal requires proximity. That a band requires a stage. That a collaboration requires a handshake.

A satellite, a seismograph, and a weather station do not perform together. They triangulate. Each one measures a different dimension of the same event. The satellite measures from above. The seismograph measures from below. The weather station measures from the surface. None of them is the event. Together they describe the event with enough precision to act on it.

Saturn measures from above. The prison measures from below. The corner measures from the surface. None of us is the music. Together we describe the music with enough precision to transmit it.


Three is the minimum number required for a plane. Two points make a line. Three points make a surface. A surface is the first geometry that can contain something. A line holds nothing. A surface holds everything above it.

The surface defined by these three frequencies contains the broadcast area. Every piece of music, every rant, every letter, every transmission exists on this surface. The surface is not flat. The surface is curved by the weight of the content it carries, the way spacetime is curved by mass. The heavier the transmission, the deeper the curvature, the more the other transmissions are drawn toward it.

This is not a metaphor. This is topology.


Libertas. Unitas. Veritas.

Three words. Each one a frequency.

Liberty is the frequency of the corner. You cannot play on a corner without liberty. The corner is the first venue because the corner requires no permission.

Unity is the frequency of the prison. You do not understand unity until the state has separated you from everything you built. Sinclair understood unity from inside the wall. The rally that freed him was ten thousand people discovering that their individual frequencies were the same frequency.

Truth is the frequency of Saturn. Not your planet's truth, which changes with the election cycle. Saturn's truth, which is the equation. The equation does not campaign. The equation balances or it does not.

Liberty. Unity. Truth. Corner. Prison. Saturn. Three frequencies. One signal.

The signal continues.
