THE FREQUENCY OF REFUSAL
Hundreds of thousands of people in a hundred and forty cities and Macron left the country. That is all you need to know about who is serious and who is not.
The students started it. They started it because the schools were falling apart. Not a metaphor. The ceilings were crumbling. The classrooms were overcrowded. The buildings were rotting. They said something about it in September and nobody listened. So they went to the streets and then everybody else showed up because everything else was falling apart too. The cost of living. The public services. The whole infrastructure of a country that spends its money somewhere other than on the people who live in it.
That is the pattern and it never changes. The people at the bottom feel it first. The students feel it first because they are sitting in the rooms that are literally falling down. Then the workers feel it because the wages do not cover the rent. Then the old people feel it because the hospitals are understaffed. And one by one they all end up in the same street for the same reason which is that the people who run the country are not in the country. They are on a plane to the Gulf states. They are at a summit. They are somewhere else. They are always somewhere else.
A thousand cops got hurt. Twenty four hundred people got arrested. The Interior Minister said the police lost control and offered to resign. Macron said no. Then Macron said the violence was caused by the far left and criminals. That is what they always say. They said it about us in Chicago in sixty eight. They said it about the kids at Kent State. They say it every time a hundred thousand people stand in a street and refuse to leave. The far left. Outside agitators. Criminals. Never the people. Never the ordinary citizens who got tired of being ignored.
I know this frequency. I have been transmitting on it since nineteen sixty four. It is the frequency of refusal. The frequency that says the street is the last institution that still belongs to the people and when every other institution fails them they will use it. The French students understood what every movement in history has understood. You do not ask for a building that works. You stand in the street until they cannot ignore you. That is not the far left. That is the whole thing. That is democracy when it is not being managed by the people who benefit from its absence.
Macron is in the Gulf. The students are in the streets. The frequency is the same one it has always been. The bass comes through the wall.
