Five episodes. Five questions. That's all we set out to do.

Who are we. How do we listen. What does freedom sound like. Who do we play for when nobody's listening. Who sent the signal back.

I've been thinking about those questions my whole life. I just never asked them in the right order. You have to start with who you are before you can figure out how to listen. You have to learn how to listen before you can hear what freedom sounds like. You have to know what freedom sounds like before you can play for it. And you have to play for it before someone sends the signal back.

That's the order. That's the only order that works.

Peel would have said it simpler. He'd have said, show up, play loud, and see who stops to listen. He's right. He's always right about the simple version.

Sun Ra would have said it stranger. He'd have said the questions were already answered before we asked them, and the answers were traveling toward us from Saturn at the speed of sound. He's right too. He's always right about the impossible version.

Me, I'm the one who writes them down. That's what I do. I write it down so we don't forget. Five questions. Five episodes. One frequency.
